Family Therapy

If your family experiencing the same, ongoing struggles, including arguments, conflicts, lack of cooperation, frequent misbehavior or dishonesty, irritability among family members, or activity overload leading to severe stress and anxiety, it’s time to seek a new approach with a trained, professional counselor. Family counseling can help bring you much-needed relief. We will work together to solve problems, avoid blame, and minimize stress, which can increase your family’s flexibility, while establishing consistent rules and routines that promote respect and accountability from all family members.

Adolescent / Teen Focused Therapy

Adolescents today face many issues and challenges that can lead to feeling overwhelmed and confused. These years can be a time of great vulnerability for a teen which may lead to poor choices and problematic behavior. The adolescent years are riddled with transitional issues – physical and emotional changes along with the desire to establish independence from their parents, which can result in feelings of confusion and discouragement. Teens often don’t have the needed coping skills to deal with this significant distress which may lead to your teen engaging in risky behaviors or becoming depressed and/or anxious.

Sometimes, adolescents may just need someone outside of their family to discuss the stressors they are dealing with and help them relieve the pressure they feel. For others, who are dealing with more severe issues such as depression, anxiety, violent behaviors, sexual acting out, school/home behavioral problems, or substance abuse, will need more significant intervention.

School-Based Therapy

School Based Therapy is great for children who have conditions that cause their school life to suffer. Whether it be academic or behavioral, a counselor will assess your child and work with them in the classroom. Your child’s counselor will be able to figure out what can help them and share helpful tips with you.

Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

TF-CBT addresses the specific emotional and mental health needs of children, adolescents, adult survivors, and families who are struggling to overcome the destructive effects of early trauma. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Therapy (TF-CBT) is especially sensitive to the unique problems of youth with post-traumatic stress disorder and mood disorders resulting from abuse, violence, or grief.

Parenting Support / Triple P Program

This form of therapy is not only short-term, it can also include all loved ones, you and your spouse, you and your child, or just you. Each treatment plan is specific to your situation. Parenting can be satisfying and fulfilling. But it can also be difficult and time-consuming. Parents must tend to an infant or child’s daily needs. They are also responsible for helping each of their children develop life skills. These skills include daily living skills, social skills, and appropriate behaviors. It may be hard to cope as a parent, and parents may find it difficult to give their children equal attention, creating feelings of guilt, and greater levels of stress within.  Parents with more than one child must account for the personalities of each, as well. Parenting may also become more complex if the child has a physical or intellectual disability, extreme medical treatment or needs, as well as adjustment to changes within the family unit. Parenting may become more difficult when a child shows signs of behavior issues. New parents, overwhelmed parents, and parents facing mental health conditions may benefit from this type of support.  Our therapists can help parents through difficult situations or behavioral concerns.

Triple P Positive Parenting Program is one of the most effective evidence-based parenting programs in the world, backed up by more than 35 years of ongoing research. Triple P gives parents simple and practical strategies to help them build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. Triple P is currently used in more than 25 countries and has been shown to work across cultures, socio-economic groups and in many different kinds of family structures.

We offer supervision assistance from clinical professionals in order to maintain the essential and integral skills that are part of training and continuing education required for the skillful development of professional social workers and licensed clinical mental health counselors.

Supervision protects clients, supports practitioners, and ensures that professional standards and quality services are delivered by competent licensed practitioners.

Maternal Mental Wellness

Expectant and new moms, and their babies, thrive when their mental health and wellness needs are prioritized and met during pregnancy and early parenting. However, maternal mental health disorders can occur during what is called the perinatal period. This includes during the time that a woman is pregnant, and the postpartum period, which is the first year after the baby is born.

Our maternal mental health services encompass the stress, frustration and struggles of parents and parents-to-be in dealing with conditions ranging from infertility, loss, pregnancy, the postpartum period, and early parenting. If you are pregnant, or has recently become a new mom, and experience excessive anxiety about your baby, low self-esteem, inability to enjoy activities, show poor adherence to prenatal care, or are smoking or drinking during pregnancy, get in touch today.

Teletherapy

All of the above services are now being offered online. Research shows that online counseling is just as effective, if not more, than in person counseling. You get to talk with your therapist from the comfort of your own home, office, or even while taking a walk. Most clients report enjoying online therapy even more than in person. Getting started is easy. Simply contact our office or request an appointment. From there, we’ll provide instructions on how to use our simple telehealth platform, and we can schedule your first session at a time that’s most convenient for you.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapy where the patient briefly focuses on a traumatic memory while also following specific eye movements. This helps to reduce the vividness and emotion associated with traumatic memories and experiences. EMDR is intended to change the way the memory is stored, helping to reduce and possibly eliminate symptoms associated with the trauma. This is a great therapy for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), but EMDR can help with a variety mental health struggles such as anxiety, depression, panic disorders, phobias, and more.
